Natural Ways to Boost Your Energy

It can be easy to feel slumped and low-energy. Especially on those cloudy days, feeling energetic and motivated can seem like the biggest challenge. Feeling low-energy and drained can be a sign of severe exhaustion, both physical and mental.

If you’re finding yourself in a slump and need a way to feel a bit more energetic (without that extra cup of coffee), then follow these tips to boost your energy and feel like your best self.

Up your magnesium intake

If you often feel fatigued and low-energy, you might be facing a magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is responsible for breaking down glucose into energy, so it’s a crucial vitamin for feeling energetic. Of course, you can include magnesium in your daily supplement routine, but there are some dietary ways to up your magnesium uptake, too. Snack on a handful of almonds, cashews, or hazelnut. Another way to up your magnesium intake is by eating more fish regularly, particularly halibut.

Don’t skip meals

Sometimes, when you’re feeling lethargic, eating a meal might not be at the top of your list. Even so, skipping meals, especially breakfast, can only worsen how you feel. Starting your day with a healthy, balanced breakfast gives your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to feel energetic, powerful, and focused.

Take a nap

Sleeping away the day isn’t the answer, but taking a quick power nap might just be. Sometimes, we feel like we have no energy left because we push our bodies more and more for extended periods of time. When you hit this point, hit the sheets. Setting an alarm for an hour-long nap can help your mind hit the refresh button, giving you that energy burst you need.

Go for a walk

Intense physical activity is most likely out of the question when you don’t have a lot of energy, and that’s okay. You don’t need to do anything over the top, but you also don’t need to stay in bed all day. To boost your energy levels, simply go for a slow, easy walk around your neighborhood, a local park, or other spot. A simple 10-minute walk can boost your energy levels and your mood for several hours, and when done every day, it can continue these patterns for extended periods of time.

Stay hydrated

One of these easiest ways to feel drained is being dehydrated. Be sure to stay consistently hydrated, but once you’ve hit that point of major exhaustion, up your water intake. Switch out sugary drinks or alcohol for a large, cold glass of water. This will instantly and naturally boost your energy levels, but it will also help long-term. Staying hydrated helps you remain focused throughout the day, not hitting a slump as early. Also, being well-hydrated helps you sleep better, giving you more energy the next day.

Limit stress

Easier said than done, but limiting stress can be a major factor in boosting your energy levels. Being intentional with what you put on your emotional and mental plate is crucial to your physical health, too. To prevent burning out, assess your current schedule and responsibilities and make sure you aren’t adding in unnecessary stressors.

Feeling burnt out is unfortunately common, but with these natural tips, you can soon be full of energy.
