It’s no secret that as the seasons change, so does your skin. So, as the temperature starts to fall, and the humidity begins to fade during the autumn/winter months, we beauty obsessed folk will have a perfectly legitimate reason to reassemble our makeup bags to do our skin and the fall season justice. Here are the swaps we’ll be making this season.
SWAP #1- Matte to Dewy
Spring and summer are all about keeping our pesky t-zones in check, which means relying on mattifying makeup primers to keep our foundation from melting-off of our faces, and lightweight powders to lock everything in place and touch up our complexions throughout the mercilessly hot days. As it cools, we love to ditch our matte primers and foundations in favor of hydrating tinted moisturizers, dewy foundations, and creamy cooling primers. Because once the temperature drops, we’ll take moisture wherever we can get it – and right now that’s with jane iredale’s Dream Tint® Tinted Moisturizer.
SWAP #2 – Glossy Balms to Bold Mattes
We can’t be bothered to wear anything more than a tinted balm during the summer months, so when fall rolls around, we truly cannot wait to pull our bold matte lipsticks out of retirement. We’re talking rich berries, dusty mauves, and deep burgundies, not only are bold lips a surefire way to look more put together in the morning, but the fade into the most graceful of “just-bitten” stains. We love ourselves a multi-purpose product, and RMS’s Lip2Cheek in Diabolique, blots out to the perfect bold, matte berry that doubles as a cheek stain.
SWAP #3 – Bronzers to Cheek Stains
Not that there’s anything wrong with the sun kissed look – there’s a fair share of us who sport it all year round – but we find ourselves going easy on the bronzer during the fall months and upping the ante on blush. More specifically, Cheek Stains, which feel like nothing on the skin and can stand up against wind, chills, and the like. When you want that – “I’ve just been frolicking in a pile of crisp autumn leaves” look, you’ll want a cheek stain. We opt for Jillian Dempsey’s buzzed about Cheek Tints for this look.
SWAP #4 – Mascaras to Liners
Now don’t write us off just yet – we aren’t telling you to ditch mascara all together. But, we’re always itching to take our makeup looks up a notch during the fall, and that just so happens to mean taking the extra 5 (or 30) minutes to perfect that winged eyeliner. W3ll People’s Expressionist Liquid Eyeliner is fail-proof and stands the test of time.
