Whether you’ve got a big date or a night planned with the girls, the desire to serve a “look” on Valentine’s day holds true. It’s the day of love after all, and what better way to show yourself some TLC than playing with your makeup?
If Instagram glam isn’t your style, and you want to experiment with low-risk looks that you’ll be able to recreate with confidence with the products in your makeup bag – you’ve come to the right place. These makeup looks are fit for Valentine’s Day and beyond. So get ready as we share with you our absolute favorite Valentine’s Day makeup looks for 2019.

Bright & Beaming
We love a luminous natural makeup look because they only require an extra-glowy base. Opt for a radiance boosting primer like Becca’s First Light Priming Filter, or double down on moisturizer for an extra hydrated base. Follow up with a lightweight, skin-like foundation (you can also achieve a thinner finish by mixing your foundation with a bit of your daily moisturizer or hydrating face oil), and lightly powder some highlighter along the high points of the face and the inner corners of the eyes to amplify the soft, glowing finish and give you a bright eyed appearance. For lips and cheeks, opt for a multipurpose stain to bring the look together, we love Ilia’s Multistick in Tenderly for its petal pink shade and ultra-clean ingredients. Finish off the look with a thin winged liner, or – if you don’t want to risk missing your date entirely trying to perfect it – a flew lashings of mascara.

Sultry & Sculpted
If shimmer and glitter isn’t your cup of tea, you’re bound to appreciate the sexy simplicity of this understated but undoubtedly romantic, Valentine’s Day makeup look. To achieve this pseudo-bare faced complexion, opt for a tinted moisturizer or ditch the foundation entirely in favor of a multi-tasking concealer like RMS Beauty’s Un-Coverup concealer, just be sure to top it off with a matte finish powder to keep things looking natural and not overly dewy. Give yourself a bronze/contour with a baked bronzer (we love this one by W3ll People), and add subtle definition to the eyes by dusting over your lids too. The bronzer adds a sultry vibe to the look without looking overly done like a full blown smoky eye. The most potentially arduous part of this look is winged eyeliner that is undoubtedly the star of the show. Not only does winged liner thicken the lash line and draw attention to your eyes, it adds an extra punch of femininity to the look without completely changing your face. Bonus: If you’re feeling extra you can add some falsies to really highlight the doe-eyed effect.
Bold and Beautiful
If the words “special occasion,” and “bold lips” are synonymous to you, there’s no better makeup look to sport on Valentine’s Day than one with a statement lip. When wearing an attention grabbing shade, we like to keep the base on the minimal side with a sheer to light coverage base like Josie Maran’s argan oil infused foundation and a nude blush. So the bold lips don’t wash out your complexion, we recommend evening the score by going heavy on the mascara. There are hundreds upon hundreds of bold lip colors to choose from so we’ll leave you with a few pearls of wisdom: opt for a long-wearing (and smooch-proof) formula, in the form of a liquid lipstick or an easy to layer stain (Kosas makes excellent shades that stand the test of time when blotted on lips and layered). When in doubt of your lip’s longevity, it’s always a good idea to line and coat your lips in a complimentary liner. We hope you give one of these Valentine’s Day makeup looks a try!
